O Thou My Lovely Boy
Been getting into The Complete Works of Shakespeare. I was going to look over some of the more famous monologues from the plays, but I never made it past the sonnets, which seem so touching and direct after not having re-read them these many years.
O thou my lovely boy who in thy power,
Dost hold Time’s fickle glass his fickle hour:
Who hast by waning grown, and therein show’st,
Thy lovers withering, as thy sweet self grow’st.
