I just learned that The Mary Jane Girls were named for Rick James’ love of marijuana and the four singers embody a kind of gender-switched Village People of archetypical hotties: Joanne “JoJo” McDuffie, the streetwise, female version of James himself; Kimberly “Maxi” Wuletich, the dominatrix; Candice “Candi” Ghant, the supermodel; and Cheri Wells, the Valley girl.
